Them Dodge Boys did it again! This here’s a White Hat Special (that’s a special car at a special price, loaded with options you want) Charger, decked out in its original bright red coat and white highlights. The 318 up front is no more, though – there’s a stomping 440 in its place with all the R/T mechanicals and trimmings! While true R/T cars don’t see the road frequently and require a second mortgage, this rotisserie recreation has all of the goodies with none of the guilt!

Dodge’s spring specials were named “White Hat Specials” were a nod to 60’s westerns where the good guys like Autry wore white cowboy hats while the villains chose black. Ergo, you could trust the ones in white hats. Package A47 on a new Charger got you a vinyl top in black, white, tan or green (up from just black or white in ‘68,) wood grain steering wheel, hood mounted turn signals, light group, remote driver side mirror, whitewall tires and deep dish hub caps. As this was a price special it wasn’t available on R/T, but you could get cool options nonetheless, and this car had a few. Power steering and power brakes make cruising a ton easier along with the center console mounted automatic shifter. R4 Charger Red was specified, and looks outstanding with the V1W white vinyl top and C6W white bucket seat interior.

We have a pile of receipts so you know what was spent where. Also included, and also very, very rare are not one but FOUR build sheets! You don’t see that every day!

Climbing inside is a real treat. New upholstery on new foam means you’ll be comfortable on long trips. Sitting there also gives you time to look around at all the other restored or new components in here – the door panels, armrests, armrest pads, headrests, dash pad and sun visors are excellent originals while new door handles, window cranks, carpet, headliner and the floor mats are new pieces. You’re staring at the original gauges in the original dash while resting your arms on new BE/A upper door pads. The originals were some of the finest we’ve seen, so we carefully put them in the trunk for the next owner. The wood grain sport wheel feels great in your hands, and $700 worth of console top plates makes the center console pop against the white interior – you’ll field compliments all day long in here!

On a lift you’ll see all of the new parts laid against the gleaming red floor pans. A full TTI exhaust complete with 40 series Flowmasters and chrome tips ensure you won’t go unnoticed. There’s a set of 3.55s in the 8 ¾ rear for the best combination of cruising and taking off. A new fuel tank, new KYB gas shocks, new fuel and brake lines keep pace with the highly detailed and rebuilt brake and suspension systems. The floors and frame-rails are as highly polished and detailed as the topside. It’s almost too nice to drive, but that’s what the car was built for!

A new spare keeps the new floor mat company in the trunk and there’s still space left over for a weeks’ worth of travel gear – B body cars are the ultimate trip cars!

Pop the hood to show off the ‘68 vintage D440 engine. Rebuilt and fully dressed it’s a runner thanks to the new Edelbrock carb on top, new Year One HP exhaust manifolds and a Comp Cams XE268H Xtreme Energy stick. New parts are everywhere from the air cleaner and pie pan to the reproduction ballast resistor, heater hoses, valve cover breather, group 27 battery and cables, coil and hold down bracket and more. Street Hemi Orange covers the motor which stays cool thanks to the 26" radiator setup. Power flows through a rebuilt 727 automatic and HP torque converter before flowing back to the 8 ¾ rear. The motor runs as good as it looks!

The body is exceptionally straight and shiny – if only all old cars could look this good! A new vinyl top in the original white is super crisp on top while the new 14" Magnum 500 style road wheels with 225/70/14 redline radials and polished trim rings set off the sides. Excellent trim and chrome is everywhere from re-chromed front bumper and restored grille to the re-chromed rear bumper and taillight bezels. There aren’t any R/T badges on the body as they weren’t there originally, but we’d be happy to add them as you see fit!

The perfect combination of looks and power without the thought of destroying a real R/T car by driving it – does it get better than that? Killer red over white, all new mechanicals and beautiful cosmetics – grab this one for next year’s shows before it’s too late!
