There are cars with great street presence, and then there are cars like this sinister 1969 Mustang pro-tourer which are wicked manifestations of high octane and pure adrenaline. Masterfully camouflaged in deceitful Boss 429 regalia, and stunning in absolutely every regard, this bad ass pony car is the ultimate big block Mustang! With one twist of the key its 557 cubic inch big block V8 comes to life and shatters it’s thinly veiled 429 subtlety into a million pieces. And when its tires hit the road, its custom suspension and modern 5-speed transmission allow it to chew up lesser muscle cars for lunch and eat modern performance cars for dinner. The only time this car has been shown, at the 2009 Bowling Green, Kentucky Goodguys event, it easily walked away with the Best Ford Award. And today, roughly 300 miles after its completion, it’s a take-no-prisoners muscle car which is ready to compete, drive or race anytime and anywhere. If you’re looking for the coolest big block Mustang money can buy, this 1969 pro-tourer is the car for you!

One look at this Mustang’s slick body reveals a fresh, highly detailed frame-off build with super smooth surfaces and laser straight lines. All of the Mustangs solid panels were stripped to bare metal and thoroughly worked to transform it from a nice piece of machinery into a trophy winning piece of art. Once that canvas was as close to perfect as possible, and displayed excellent fit and finish, a dynamic coat of Raven Black urethane was expertly applied, sealed in a glossy clearcoat shell and buffed to a fantastic shine. The result is one lust-worthy pro-tourer which oozes cool, looks absolutely evil and has enough aesthetic appeal to start its own parade!

At the front of the car, a fully functional hood scoop sits above a stainless trimmed grille which hangs a pristine red, white and blue Mustang emblem inside of bold fog lights. At the top of that grille, billet hood pins provide a little added security on the strip. At sides of that grille, deep set headlights cap aggressive, ridged fenders. And below that grille a show-worthy chrome bumper perfectly complements a gloss black SCCA style front spoiler. Behind that spoiler, the cars smooth profile trades typical Mustang ornamentation and striping for a traditional, subdued Boss look which is complete with a slick set of painted “BOSS 557” fender call outs. And above those call outs, like-new glass is framed by bright stainless trim, correct color-keyed race mirrors, brand new door handles and awesome rear fender air scoops. At the back of the car, gloss black rear window louvers are centered above a Mach 1 style decklid spoiler and factory fresh segmented tail lights. And a second showroom fresh chrome bumper hangs between and a highly detailed fuel cap, chrome trimmed reverse lights and TTI stainless exhaust tips.

So, what does an enterprising Mustang fan do when a Boss 429 or Mach 1 428 powerplant just won’t cut it? He orders a professionally built Jon Kaase racing engine which produces 800 horsepower and 750lb./ft. of pavement melting torque! Pull the pins on this awesome Mustangs solid steel hood and you’ll find a 557 cubic inch V8 which has been tweaked, bathed in a sweet coat of bright blue paint and fully dressed in some of the best aftermarket components on the planet. At the top of the engine, a bright blue air cleaner feeds a chrome 1050cfm Holley carburetor through a K&N reusable filter which sits just inside the cars fully functional hood scoop. Below that carburetor, a silver powder coated Jon Kaase alloy intake is bolted between Kaase Boss 9 aluminum heads which have been fitted with silver powder coated “Boss 557” valve covers and finished with chrome K&N crankcase breathers. Below those heads, 10.4 to 1 pistons combine with a roller cam to create explosive combustion; and in front of those heads, a reliable points distributor sends fire through blue Jon Kaase racing wires which have been fitted with MSD end caps. At the sides of the block, custom 2.25 inch Metalcrafters ceramic coated headers send vaporized dinosaurs into a brutal sounding exhaust system. And at the front of the block, a Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine system spins a chrome alternator and a high performance aluminum water pump behind a full array of billet pulleys. Cooling is provided by a proven Be Cool aluminum radiator which is complete with fresh chrome tubes and two electric fans. And fuel is provided by two thick braided hoses which span the distance between a polished fuel regulator and the big four barrel carburetor. The vicious sounding engine sits in a completely custom engine bay which has been sprayed Raven Black to match the car’s exterior panels. And nice pieces like billet hood hinges, a billet master cylinder and gloss black wire looms sprinkle in some excellent detail work which keeps things interesting.

Remember Metalcrafters, the guys who built the custom headers for the motor? They’re the ones who are largely responsible for this Mustang’s exceptionally clean and expertly detailed undercarriage as well. Behind the big 557, a fresh Tremec TKO500 5-speed manual transmission turns a traditional nine inch Ford rear end which has been equipped with a Detroit Locker center section, a Fab 9 housing and seat bending 3.90 gears. Holding that driveline off the ground is a Heidts front and rear suspension which includes polished tubular control arms and polished tie rod ends up front, polished coil over shocks at all four corners, and Raven Black sway bars at both ends of the car. After Metalcrafters installed the suspension, they stiffened the frame by grafting Heidts subframe connectors into the floor; and fabricated a custom exhaust system which sends spent gases from a ceramic coated H-pipe to either polished Dynomax mufflers with ceramic coated tail pipes or electronically activated cut outs. Step on the throttle and a polished fuel tank supplies gas to a finned electric fuel pump and fresh stainless fuel lines. Step on the brakes and four wheel electronically assisted Wilwood power discs provide serious resistance for the serious motor. Power is put to the pavement by great looking 15 inch chrome Magnum 500 wheels that are wrapped in fresh 215/70 front and giant 275/60 rear BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And everything under this car from its solid floor pans to its braided brake lines wears either a nice coat of Raven Black urethane, or a polished or satin finished metal surface.

Peer inside this awesome ’69 Mustang and you’ll find a black and silver interior that is, like the rest of the car, an exceptional mix of both vintage and modern pieces. The seats are thick units which wear traditional Clarion Knit covers under two piece racing belts; and the like-new dual cowl dash pad looks like it came straight out of the box yesterday morning. Inside that dash, a custom silver instrument panel holds a full assortment of Auto Meter Phantom gauges opposite a solid silver panel over the cars glove box, and the cars traditional Philco AM radio has been swapped for an MP3 compatible Sony Xplod CD player. Below the dash, a custom black and silver center console, courtesy of the guys at Metalcrafters, holds a traditional chrome Hurst shifter between Auto Meter auxiliary gauges and switches for the cars power windows. And at the sides of the car, sculpted door panels are decorated with more silver trim, pristine Mustang emblems and trick billet door lock knobs. At the bottom of the car, new carpet is protected by color-matched floor mats and bordered by Teal detailed sill plates. And at the top of the car, a heavy duty vinyl headliner hangs over a solid Metalcrafters roll bar which runs from the kick panels all the way to the rear hatch. In front of the driver, a chrome Grant GT steering wheel is bolted to a tilt steering column which is complete with a billet aluminum hub and billet stalks. And Behind the cockpit, Infinity Kappa speakers hang over a custom upholstered trunk which displays a cool satin finished “Boss 557” motif.

There’s no question this is a very special car and that its existence has moved the bar for top-line pro-touring customs. If you’re the sort of person who wants to own only the best, and understands that quality doesn’t compromise, then you’re already familiar with what this car has to offer. Stunning to look at, thrilling to drive, and exceptional to show, it’s a state-of-the-art pro tourer that will remain timeless thanks to smart design and immaculate craftsmanship. And in 20 years, it will still draw crowds like it does today!
