Chevy’s first generation Camaro might just be one of the coolest cars ever created. Extremely fun to drive, with plenty of power and striking good looks, these classics enjoy a cult-like following and provide one of the best ownership experiences on the planet. That unique combination of approachability and appeal has significantly contributed to the brand’s continued rise in popularity. And restorations like this sinister pro-tourer, with its Dart big block, Tremec 5-speed and substantially improved suspension, are always hot sellers. Are you one of the many enthusiasts tirelessly searching for a captivating pony car? Don’t miss your chance to claim this killer Camaro coupe!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a $250K restoration that was completed in late 2011, this nouveau Rally Sport wears a clean and solid body under slick black 2-stage. And, despite its custom drivetrain, the car’s trim and ornamentation is a stylish mix of familiar first and second generation Camaro attributes. Up front, a shaved Rally Sport grille hangs clean Rally Sport headlights above a body-matched bumper and clear Rally Sport parking lamps. Behind that grille, a custom header panel leads the eye to a traditional ZL-2 hood and dark-tint glass that’s framed in straight stainless trim. At the sides of the car, factory doors found chrome mirrors and simple handles between shaved fenders and sculpted quarters that are carved with custom gills. And at the back of those quarters, a custom valance hangs F2 Rally Sport taillights between a D80 spoiler and custom exhaust outlets that are seated in a custom roll pan.

ENGINE

Toss this Chevy’s glossy hood and you’ll find 540 cubic inches of epic Dart performance that’s housed in a carefully matched and professionally detailed engine compartment. Naturally, that Big M block is stuffed with an impressive roster of hardware, including an Eagle crank, Eagle H-beam rods, Eagle domed and forged pistons, ARP bolts and a custom-grind Lunati Voodoo cam. Those internals are fed by a polished Edelbrock air cleaner, coated Edelbrock carburetors, a coated Edelbrock intake and Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads. Combustion gets kick-started by Pro Magnum roller rockers, an MSD Blaster 2 coil, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and high quality Taylor plug wires. Exhaust escapes through beefy Lemons headers. Charging is provided by a billet serpentine system, which spins polished ancillaries above a double roller timing set. Cooling comes courtesy of 11.5 horsepower puller fans, a custom aluminum radiator and a proven Stewart water pump. And items like braided fluid lines, a Moroso breather, fabricated valve covers and chrome brace bars add both form and function.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

That buff mill spins power through a high performance clutch and billet flywheel to a Keisler-built Tremec TKO600 close-ratio 5-speed. The transmission is hooked to a hearty GM 12-bolt, which spins a posi-traction differential around Moser axles and tough 3.55 gears. Up front is a custom front clip, which wraps modern power steering in 2-inch drop spindles, adjustable coil-overs, Global West control arms and a 1-inch sway bar. That third member trails on a Total Cost Involved 4-link, which frames 200# TCI springs and adjustable TCI shocks in a polished Panhard bar and polished sway bar. Stops are provided by PBR calipers that squeeze 12 and 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors, thanks to Hydratech hydraulics. The aforementioned headers snake into 3-inch pipes, which breathe through an X-shaped crossover and great sounding Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers. At the corners of the car, chrome Coys wheels spin 225/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs up front, and 285/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs out back. And everything, from this Chevy’s overrestored floors and Heidts subframe connectors to its deep sump oil pan and Trick Flow pumpkin cover, appears to be in excellent operating condition.

INTERIOR

Disable the K-9 alarm system and tap the remote keyless entry to find a stylish leather interior that wraps Mad Racing Concepts seats in a nice blend of style and sophistication. In front of those seats, a factory dash anchors an aftermarket instrument panel behind bright Equus gauges and Vintage Air climate control. Tight carpet centers a custom console between a TKO shifter, small power window switches and FatMat Xtreme sound deadening. A Dual touchscreen audio/DVD system pipes music, video, Bluetooth and satellite navigation through a Sony amplifier, 10-inch Sony subwoofers and a full assortment of Sony speakers. In front of the driver, a polished Grant steering wheel spins around a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a carpeted trunk hides a big stainless fuel cell.

If you’re in the market for a proven pavement bruiser that’s a blast to show off and even MORE fun to drive, your search is officially over. This clean Camaro mixes classic Chevy swagger with a ton of power and some of the best performance hardware on the planet. Why waste years of your valuable time financing a ground-up classic when you can walk into our showroom, throw down half the money and experience instant gratification?
