Thanks to a complete frame-off build, it wraps an attractive Garnet Red color scheme around a brutally fast LS7 V8 which is backed by a Muncie 4-speed transmission and an upgraded factory suspension. THIS is the kind of car you buy if you want to break hearts on the street and draw a crowd at the cruise in! And with its exceptionally finished and expertly detailed restoration, it’ll wow the guy behind the wheel just as much as it wows wide-eyed bystanders. There simply isn’t a more sinister classic than a built big block Camaro; and if you’re looking for a potent, fun and fast muscle car that’s completely over-the-top, this ’69 Super Sport is a drivable dream!

During a recent build, this killer Camaro’s clean vintage steel was restored to better than factory standards and displays no dents, dings or waves anywhere. Upon completion, it was covered in a glossy coat of GM code 52 Garnet Red which still maintains an awesome finish and has been buffed to a glare inducing shine. Fantastic metalwork resulted in panel gaps that are much better than when the car originally rolled off GMs assembly line and greatly contributes to the arrow straight sides and mirror-like reflections you see in these pictures. As many car guys know first-hand, it’s awfully easy to fall in love with the shape of the first generation F-body, and for this build the owner decided to let that perfectly sculpted body do all the talking. There are no questionable graphics or modifications to any of the cars factory correct panels; and only traditional Dover White hockey stripes hint that this isn’t just another run-of-the-mill ’69 Camaro.

The key to building a good sleeper is creating a car that, on the surface, looks completely natural and simple but below the skin, actually contains many labor intensive alterations and custom touches. At the front of this ’69 Camaro, a stainless trimmed Rally Sport grille centers a pristine white inlayed “SS” emblem between clear, fully functional Rally Sport headlights and a showroom fresh chrome bumper. Below that chrome bumper, crystal clear parking lights, which are equipped with amber bulbs, hang above an option D80 front spoiler; and above that chrome bumper a familiar ZL2 cowl induction hood rides behind a pristine “Camaro by Chevrolet” header panel emblem. At the sides of the car, standard stainless rocker moldings and straight stainless wheel well trim perfectly complement correct chrome marker lights, traditional chrome GM door handles and correct chrome mirrors. And traditional Rally Sport fender louvers combine with pristine “Camaro SS” emblems and white inlayed “427” emblems to hint at the cars sporty nature. At the top of the car, like-new glass is cleared by silver finished wipers, shielded by new chrome drip rails and framed by well-maintained stainless trim. And at the back of the car, an option D80 rear decklid spoiler is perfectly aligned above ’69 Camaro exclusive tail lights, a second white inlayed “SS” emblem, a second showroom fresh chrome bumper and crystal clear Rally Sport reverse lamps.

Based on appearance alone, this awesome Chevy is just another ’69 Camaro Rally Sport, right? Sure… Until you lift the hood and reveal its 427 cubic inch LS7 V8 that creates a dyno-proven 750 horsepower! Painted in ominous silver, and bolted into a Garnet Red engine bay which has been completely detailed with authentic looking chalk marks and shift stamps, this bad ass Winter block will perform just as well on the show field as it does on the drag strip. At the top of the engine, a fully functional cowl induction system funnels cool air into a large Holley 4-barrel carburetor which is equipped with both a fresh stainless fuel line and a pristine braided fuel hose. Below that carburetor, a matching Winter intake, which is complete with a chrome thermostat housing, sits between aluminum, “Chevrolet” branded valve covers. And behind that carburetor, a modern billet distributor sends fire through black Taylor performance plug wires which snake around ceramic coated, long tube Hooker headers. In front of the engine, a polished aluminum radiator, which is cooled by a factory replacement fan, sends water through fresh reproduction GM hoses and correct tower clamps; and fresh V-belts spin a high performance Weiand water pump between a chrome alternator and chrome power steering pump which are complete with heavy duty billet aluminum brackets. Aesthetically, this Camaro’s engine bay is decked out with chrome fender braces, a chrome hood latch, a reproduction Delco Energizer battery that still wears a correct tag, and a chrome fan shroud. And the engine itself has been finished with niceties such as a chrome fuel pump, a chrome timing chain cover, a chrome oil pan and factory correct decals. There really is nothing more to ask for from an engine build than what you see here. The big 427 looks spectacular, utilizes a mini starter to fire instantly, and accelerates like a rocket!

Behind that 750 horsepower monster block is a traditional Muncie 4-speed that’s easily up to the task of transferring ALL the engines torque to the pavement. And unlike modern units, which may be a little smoother, this Camaro’s classic transmission gives it a crisp, vintage gait that actually lets you feel the power flowing through the drivetrain, and makes you well aware of the serious ponies your right foot is about to unleash. When that right foot goes down, the tough M21 spins a fresh driveshaft which is connected to a traditional GM 12 bolt rear end that is stuffed full of tall 3.73 gears. At the front of the car, a fresh Hotchkis performance sway bar rides in front of aftermarket shocks and fresh Hotchkis adjustable tie rods; and at the back of the car, a second Hotchkis performance sway bar hangs between two more aftermarket shocks and freshly restored leaf springs. Braking is supplied by a beefy four wheel disc system which is complete with large drilled and slotted rotors. And spent gases are whisked through a large diameter, true dual exhaust system which includes an H-pipe crossover, great sounding Magnaflow mufflers and a smooth powdercoated finish which extends all the way to the tips of its turn downs. The bottom of this Camaro is just as clean as its exterior panels with over-restored Garnet Red floors and gloss black chassis and drivetrain components held together by new stainless hardware and displaying correct factory chalk marks. And at the corners, attractive 15 inch GM Rally wheels, which are mounted to traditional F70-15 Goodyear redline tires, serve as a nice finishing touch.

Instead of equipping the inside of this Camaro with another run-of-the-mill black interior, its restorers installed a complete list of fresh and attractive Medium Red vinyl pieces which perfectly complement its Garnet Red exterior paint. The seats are completely restored units which are firm and comfortable and feature factory fresh headrests. Between those seats, a traditional first generation Camaro console props a chrome Hurst shifter behind optional four pack gauges which monitor the cars vitals. At the front of the car, a fade-free red dash hangs correct AC gauges between vibrant wood applique and a correct passenger’s side grab handle. At the sides of the car, fresh standard door panels look as good as new behind nice stainless trim and chrome door and window hardware. Below the seats, stain free red carpet is sandwiched between heavy duty rubber mats and a thick layer of Hushmat insulation; and above the seats, a tight red headliner flows to a vibrant and pliable rear package tray. In front of the driver, a pristine GM Rally wheel wraps a solid rosewood rim around slick, satin finished spokes and a red, white and blue Chevrolet horn button. And behind the cockpit, an equally well-finished trunk holds a correct jack and full size spare tire between a new houndstooth mat and correct decklid decals.

Included with the sale of this cool old Camaro is a stack of build photos and dyno results for its big block motor.
