As nice as investment grade first generation Camaros are, it seems EVERYONE either owns one or knows someone who owns one. And as much as we enjoy seeing blue chip F1s come through our doors, it’s always great to find a pristine classic that’s built to enjoy. Now, being the avid Chevy fan that you are, you probably know finding a cool Camaro isn’t all that hard. But, scoring an outstanding resto-mod for cheaper than the high five-figure mark is becoming increasingly difficult. Luckily, since the passionate gearheads at RK Motors Charlotte specialize in F-Bodies of every flavor, we can offer you great opportunities like this awesome Hugger Orange Camaro. Featuring a 620 horsepower small block, a modern 4L80E transmission and a thoroughly upgraded suspension, this F1 is a super cool muscle car that’s ready to kick your summer off with style! If you’re in the market for a classic bowtie that can be driven and shown without fear, don’t miss the chance to own this head-turning Chevy!

Restored in 2010, and modified to the tune of $50K by the good folks at Virginia Speed of Virginia Beach, Virginia, this slick, Hugger Orange and Dover White Camaro is the product of A LOT of time spent sweating details. From its straight panels to its painted stripes, which are buried under a thick layer of clear, the car’s rock-solid metal displays craftsmanship that’s nothing short of immaculate. Not surprisingly, every seam on this Main Street king has been aligned to better-than-factory fit. When you step close to the car’s mirror-like paint, you’ll find flat surfaces that are a product of years of low mileage and generations of great care. And ultimately, it all adds up to one very impressive classic that looks right at home reflecting summertime car shows!

With balanced proportions and crisp detailing, the first generation Camaro is an inherently good-looking design. At the front of this coupe, a “Z/28” branded grille hangs standard headlights above a fresh bumper, clear parking lamps and a requisite D80 chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a Camaro-branded header leads the eye to a ZL-2 cowl induction hood, satin-finish wipers and new glass that’s framed in straight stainless and polished drip rails. Below that hood, the car’s smooth profile centers chrome door handles and a correct mirror between small marker lamps, simple ornamentation and black-trimmed rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, correct taillights illuminate a D80 deck spoiler, a second chrome bumper, a fourth “Z/28” emblem and polished exhaust tips.

Hoist this Chevy’s hydraulic hood and you’ll find a 454 cubic inch, 620 horsepower GM Performance Parts LSX 454 that’s wedged inside a clean, professionally detailed engine bay. Straight from the General this exclusive package utilizes a tough iron block, a forged 4340 crank, forged 4340 rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic roller cam to turn stout 11 to 1 compression into unmatched throttle response! At the top of the mill, a K&N X-Stream air cleaner twists wind through a large Holley carburetor, which is fitted a small regulator and braided fluid lines. Under that carb, a coated LSX-LS7 intake rides between aluminum LSX-LS7 heads that are capped by painted “LSX 454” valve covers. Below those covers, vivid, Chevy Orange paint is framed by tied Taylor plug wires and beefy Stainless Works headers. At the front of those headers, a polished serpentine system spins a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor and a modern power steering pump at the edges of a high quality, aluminum water pump. And in front of that pump, a polished Be Cool radiator cycles coolant around big puller fans via fabricated water tubes. Virtually every facet of this Camaro’s fresh engine bay has been taken from a 10 to an 11. And even the small details, like billet hood hinges, a Moroso breather, Hotchkis fender braces, a machined block-off plate and trick dipsticks, are all well planned and well executed.

That ferocious big block twists torque through a programmable 4L80E 4-speed to a tough 12-bolt axle. That transmission, sourced from GM Performance Parts, rides behind a fully rebuilt front clip that’s equipped with Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering and tubular Global West control arms. The car’s LPW-branded pumpkin hangs between traditional leaf springs and quality QA1 shocks. That first-class suspension sits inside a stalwart Wilwood brake system, which utilizes four power-assisted calipers to squeeze four vented rotors. Exhaust flows from the aforementioned headers in to large-diameter pipes, which position an X-shaped crossover in front of rowdy Flowmaster mufflers. Power meets the pavement through chrome American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, which spin 225/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 255/60R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. And the car’s clean, undercoated floors feature top-notch finishing components like a Holley oil pan, fresh stainless fluid lines and welded sub-frame connectors.

Open this Camaro’s solid-closing doors and you’ll find a mildly customized interior that wraps a nice blend of classic style and modern convenience around upgraded bucket seats. In front of those seats, a modified dash hangs Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges and controls for the car’s Vintage Air climate system behind a sculpted instrument panel. At the base of that dash, a traditional F1 console frames a factory horseshoe shifter. Below that console, high quality floor mats protect like-new carpet. At the edges of that carpet, Standard Camaro door panels center small armrests in pristine stainless hardware. In front of the driver, a tilting steering column spins a thick-rimmed wheel around satin-finished spokes. And behind the passengers, a matted trunk conceals a billet-framed Optima gel cell battery.

Legendary and desirable, the first generation Camaro is one of the best combinations of style and performance to ever roll out of Detroit. Factor in this coupe’s top-notch upgrades, and it becomes one of the most desirable F1s on the market. Looking for a fun and extremely cool classic that can run with the best thoroughbreds on the road? Then step right in, sit right down and strap up to 620 horses of Chevrolet muscle!
