When you work somewhere as cool as this place, you start to get a bit jaded. I mean, you still appreciate every car that comes through the doors because you’ll always be a gearhead at heart; but after a while you start to lose that staring, ‘kid in a candy store’ innocence that used to come out at every car show. With its 454 cubic inch big block V8, this stunning ’68 Camaro isn’t a crazy custom pro-touring marvel. Its standard black interior trades outrageous leather liners for simple and subtle vinyl. And its glossy burgundy body is straight, solid and undeniably classic. In fact, everything on this car is traditional and very familiar, but that’s exactly what makes it so special and so significant. You see, with this Camaro, there are no gimmicks to attract your attention, pretentious aspirations of becoming a modern sports car, or obnoxious luxury cruiser add-ons. It’s just a clean, honest to goodness muscle car that’s so appealing and so well-done it’ll stop you in your tracks. I should know, because that’s exactly what it did to me the first time I saw it. And yes, it felt great to once again act like a kid in a candy store! If you’re looking for some badass Detroit metal that can turn heads from here to California, and doesn’t have to make excuses for a previous owner’s compromised vision, this sweet Camaro is the flavor you been craving!

The beneficiary of a professionally finished frame-off restoration, this slick ‘68 Super Sport features an athletic appearance that’s highlighted by a breathtaking black on Burgundy color combination. Take one look down the sides of the car’s rock solid body and you’ll find that great care was taken to ensure all seams are both narrow and precise. Step closer to the car’s mirror-like paint and check out flat surfaces that are a product of both rust-free original sheetmetal and one high quality GM replacement fender. Grab the car’s well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it closes to provide an excellent fit that’s set off by a glossy clearcoat shell. Ultimately, it all adds up to one very well done classic that’s built to exacting specifications via a great combination of skilled workmanship and first-rate finishing.

When it comes to purity of form, I really can’t think of a better looking car than the first generation Camaro. It’s a solid and straightforward design that continues to age exceptionally well, especially in the company of its extroverted and exaggerated competitors. At the front of this super cool F1 a stainless trimmed grille hangs clear parking lights and a familiar white-inlayed “SS” emblem between bright halogen headlights, a spotless chrome bumper and a glossy, Trans Am-style spoiler. At the top of that grille a traditional Super Sport hood, which is adorned with attractive chrome louvers, reflects a perfect combination of like-new glass and mirrored stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, the car’s mostly monochromatic profile hangs clear marker lights around a couple of chrome door handles and a correct chrome mirror. And at the back of those marker lights, an option D80 decklid spoiler rides above ‘68 Camaro-exclusive tail lights, an “SS” branded fuel cap and a second spotless bumper.

When this killer F-Body rolled out of the restoration shop it was equipped with a traditional, 454 cubic inch Chevrolet V8. And since many of these cars came from Norwood and Van Nuys already fitted with big block Chevys, that transition was as natural as turning a couple of black Goodyears into a cloud of white smoke. At the top of that fully rebuilt engine, wind whips through a chrome air cleaner into a coated Holley 4-barrel carburetor that’s bolted between bright stainless lines, a new fuel pump and a familiar aluminum intake. The big engine’s fires are lit by an aftermarket points distributor which utilizes a new MSD Blaster II coil to sequentially spark neatly loomed Accel Ferro-Spiral Race Wires. Cooling for those fires is provided by a giant aluminum radiator that‘s equipped with fresh hoses and two electric puller fans. Water for that cooling is provided by an aluminum Weiand water pump that, along with a Powermaster alternator and Sanden AC compressor, is spun by an aesthetically pleasing V-belt pulley system. And spent gases from the engine’s combustion are whisked through a slick pair of ceramic coated, long tube headers. Aesthetically, the car’s satin black firewall and fully finished fenders look great against its Chevy Orange powerplant. And details such as chrome valve covers, a chrome breather, a chrome thermostat housing and a chrome dipstick are as handsome as they are functional.

Underneath this tire shredding Super Sport you’ll find a fully restored chassis that’s ready for both the strip and the turntable. Behind the car’s buff engine, a Richmond Super T-10 4-speed turns a familiar GM 12 bolt posi-traction rear end which hangs pavement melting 4.10 gears between fully integrated mini tubs and high quality subframe connectors. At the front of the car a completely factory suspension saw a complete OEM rebuild. And at the corners of the car, manual Baer brake calipers clamp large drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust flows from the afore mentioned ceramic coated, long tube headers into a 2.5 inch true dual system that’s complete with stainless pipes, aggressive dual-chamber mufflers and rear mounted turn downs. Power is put to the pavement through razor-sharp American Racing Torq Thrust IIs which spin 225/35ZR18 Nitto NT Extreme radials in front of 275/35ZR20 Nitto NT555 radials. And the car’s fresh satin black floors, which have been restored to better-than-new condition, feature a full array of finishing components that include a new stainless fuel tank, new stainless fuel and brake lines and a full set of spotless stainless hardware.

Open the door of this awesome F1 hardtop and you’ll find a completely restored vinyl interior that conveys a very clean and decidedly vintage appearance. At the center of the car a black-trimmed bucket and bench seat combination is in fantastic shape. At the front of the car, a good looking dash hangs beautifully restored gauges next to a great sounding Alpine CD player and a fully integrated vent for the aftermarket air conditioning system. At the bottom of the car, a 1967 Camaro console frames a chrome Hurst shifter over like-new carpet and tough rubber floor mats. And at the top of the car, a tight black headliner retains all of its color and pliability. In front of the driver, a new satin-spoked steering wheel spins around a bright “SS” horn button. At the sides of the passengers, standard door panels are decorated with excellent stainless trim and correct white-inlayed “Camaro” emblems. And behind the cockpit, the car’s fully restored trunk rests an impressive duo of Dual amps and subwoofers between Polk package tray speakers and an Optima yellow cap battery.

The sale of this pristine panther includes an original owner’s manual, a few old registration cards and a lost key return tag.

In summary, this spectacular ’68 Camaro Super Sport represents classic automotive Americana at its very finest, combining stunning design with simple execution and no-excuses, no-limits performance. Put it on a pedestal and stare at it… Take it to the local cruise… Take it on the Hot Rod Power Tour… Whatever you elect to do with this cool Camaro, it’s sure to be the centerpiece of your collection, the focal point of your garage, and, most importantly, the car you most look forward to driving and being seen in!
