The beneficiary of a fresh frame-off restoration, this super cool A-Body is a perfect blend of expert craftsmanship and fine attention to detail. With a solid body present and accounted for, the car was carefully straightened and sanded into better-than-new condition. Once that highly detailed metal work transitioned from the garage bay to the paint booth, the classic 60s panels were re-sprayed in their correct GM code N Burgundy. When that paint dried, it was sealed in clear and buffed to a clean, flat shine. And today, officially unleashed as the epitome of old school American style, this goat is one seriously cool head turner that’ll drop jaws just as easily as it’ll win trophies.

Tough, understated and attractive, this GTO perfectly defines Pontiac’s lasting legacy of tempering sophistication with aggression. The front of the car is dominated by trademark, stainless-trimmed split grilles that are anchored between stacked T3 headlights, a pristine satin-finish arrowhead and a body-width chrome bumper. Inside those grilles, a prominent “G T O” emblem hints at the performance bolted beneath a new-for-1965, GTO-exclusive hood scoop. At the sides of that scoop, expressive ‘coke bottle’ fenders hang dent-free wheel well trim and arrow-straight rocker moldings around correct chrome door handles. On the outsides of those fenders, bright red GTO crests combine with black “G T O” quarter scripts, creating visual excitement to match the car’s visceral thrill. Above those crests, like-new glass combines with well-maintained stainless, straight chrome drip rails and a correct driver’s mirror to highlight the car’s awesome pillarless profile. And behind that glass, a second body-width bumper hangs integrated reverse lamps below a finned valence, an ominous “G T O” badge, a second satin-finish arrowhead and appropriately centered “PONTIAC” lettering that lets the competition know exactly who outran them.

Raise this Pontiac’s long steel hood and the first thing you’ll notice is a killer Tri-Power 389 which sports a trio of rebuilt Rochester 2-barrel carburetors that are each equipped with individual stainless fuel lines and their own chrome air cleaners. Less obvious of course, is the stalwart engine’s correct 9778789 casting number, November (K) 27th (27) of 1964 (4) casting date and tri-power 389/4-speed exclusive “WS” stamp. Dubbed ‘Pontiac’s Trophy 389’ because of its domination in motorsports this Turquoise mill, which is good for 10.75 to 1 compression, 360 horsepower and 424 lb./ft. of torque, was one of the first production engines to feature purpose-built performance hardware. Its triad of Rochester carburetors feeds a correct high output intake manifold which is bolted between pristine chrome valve covers. Fires are lit by a familiar points style distributor which jolts sparks through a fresh set of plug wires. Cooling is provided by a correct radiator which sends water around a correct fan shroud via reproduction GM hoses and traditional tower clamps. And exhaust is funneled through a nice pair of recently restored cast iron exhaust manifolds. At the back of the engine, you’ll find a new brake booster and master cylinder combo for the car’s heavy duty brakes. At the front of the engine, you’ll find a reproduction Delco Energizer battery. And everything inside this clean, satin black engine compartment is exceptionally well done and looks fantastic!

Logging virtually no miles since its June, 2012 rebirth, this goat’s GM satin black floors and super clean frame are free of any significant issues or defects. The stout 389 sends power to a correct Muncie M20 4-speed which wears a familiar 3851325 casting number and a Muncie (P) assembled on September (09) 24th (24) of 1964 build stamp. That 4-speed spins a stalwart GM 10 bolt rear end which is stuffed with gravel busting gears. At the sides of that rock solid drivetrain, an aluminized true dual exhaust system connects the car’s restored manifolds with tough Flowmaster mufflers and traditional turn downs. At the sides of that great sounding exhaust system, a professionally restored suspension is complete with both factory optioned power steering and heavy duty power drum brakes at all four of its corners. Applying the muscle to the pavement is a pristine set of 15 inch painted steel wheels which spin G70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around detailed Pontiac Motor Division hub caps. As it sits, the car has no major leaks of any kind as new stainless brake and fuel lines still retain most of their parts store shine. And absolutely everything from this Tiger’s fresh stainless fuel tank to its Turquoise oil pan is fully sorted and ready to hit the road!

Open the car’s freshly finished doors and you’ll find a fully restored, and correct, GM code 213 black vinyl interior that’s simple yet sporty. Front and center is firm bucket and bench seats which feature bright stainless trim, cool pleated covers and fresh Fisher lap belts. The engine’s vitals are displayed by an optional Rally Gauge cluster which integrates round-faced dials and a correct Delco AM radio into a veneer-trimmed dash that’s reminiscent of European sports cars. On the floors, like-new carpet anchors a chrome Hurst shifter between thick rubber floor mats. At the sides of the car, fresh black door panels feature new chrome handles and fresh stainless trim that parallels bright red GTO crests. In front of the driver, a great looking Pontiac Custom Sport steering wheel spins correct polished spokes around a Turquoise “Pontiac Motor Division” horn button. And behind the passengers, a spotless trunk sandwiches a correct jack and a full-size spare tire between a new mat and a correct decklid decal.
