If you’re one of our regular readers, you know we’ve featured some killer ’55 Chevrolets over the past few months. And if you’re a hesitant buyer, you’ve probably found out the hard way that virtually all those cars sell within one or two weeks of hitting our showroom floor. There’s just something about a great mix of classic Chevrolet style and modern performance that is universally appealing, and our customers simply can’t get enough. For example, this first-class Bel Air’s engine barely had time to cool before it left the building only THREE days after it arrived! And this super slick Delray, featured that very same week, was spoken for in just under seven days! This lights-out 1955 Chevrolet 210 combines a fire-breathing 502 big block, with substantial suspension upgrades, a custom leather interior and stunning exterior paint to create a killer combination of style and all-out performance. And at only $89,900, it’s the perfect opportunity to pick up an awesome ‘tri-five’ cruise and show car without the exorbitant price of a ground up restoration!

Any good car guy will tell you the very best customs are those which take the original shape and personality of an already striking design and adjust it just enough to catch your eye and make you steal a second glance. You just KNOW something is different, but it takes two, three, maybe four looks to figure out exactly what — that’s true art! Go ahead and spend a few minutes studying the body on this awesome 1955 210 coupe and see if you can pick out all its detail. For starters, you’ll see near-flawless prep and careful assembly from every angle. Next you’ll find an expertly applied paint job which uses vivid Burnt Orange and smooth Cameo Beige urethane to stellar effect by duplicating the car’s factory two-tone pattern. And last but certainly not least you’ll discover crisp finishing work, like razor-sharp eyebrows that stretch over its front fenders and tight beads at the edges of those fenders, which provide the kind of solid presence that’s only found on carefully crafted old school metal.

The ‘55 is certainly the cleanest of the ‘tri-five’ Chevys with its minimal trim and crisp, modern styling devoid of the massive chrome and exaggerated proportions which typically characterize 50s Detroit icons. At the front of the car, a fully optioned Bel Air bumper rides below a pristine chrome grille, clear parking lights and chrome trimmed halogen headlights; and a factory fresh Chevrolet crest rides below a centered chrome ‘jetbird’ hood ornament which looks fantastic against the glossy Burnt Orange paint. At the top of the car, smoked glass is anchored by a slick chrome cowl and fresh stainless wipers, accented by show worthy chrome mirrors and framed by good looking stainless trim and traditional, painted Chevy 210 door frames. And at the sides of the car, pristine “Chevrolet” fender scripts combine with dent-free stainless rocker trim, traditional chrome door handles and great looking ‘tri-five’ quarter panel spears to add detail to the sculpted, two-tone profile. At the back of the car a retrofitted, and fully optioned, chrome Nomad bumper hangs over great looking Megs stainless exhaust tips; and clear, chrome trimmed blue dot tail lights ride between a second, pristine Chevrolet crest and small, chrome Chevrolet emblems.

By now it’s probably pretty obvious this Chevy 210 was built to be seen; but thanks to the 502 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 under its domed hood, that might be easier said than done. And it’s a crying shame too, because there’s so much chrome under here it’s almost like they took a completely assembled big block and dipped it whole. At the top of the engine, a polished aluminum air cleaner funnels wind from a re-usable filter element into two Burnt Orange, Carter Competition Series 4-barrel carburetors that are complete with a custom chrome fuel regulator, two Marshall fuel pressure gauges and a Professional Products Powerflow fuel filter. Below those carburetors, a chrome intake props an aftermarket HEI distributor, which sends spark across billet wire looms via red Taylor performance plug wires, opposite a chrome thermostat housing that’s attached to one of two corrugated chrome hoses. And at the sides of that intake, pristine chrome valve covers hang polished breathers over ceramic coated, long tube headers. In front of the block, fresh V-belts spin a chrome alternator, a chrome power steering pump, a chrome AC compressor and a polished water pump behind a nice combination of chrome and billet pulleys. And in front of those V-belts a polished aluminum radiator, which is equipped with two quick spinning puller fans, a polished overflow tank and a polished bowtie cap, is centered between a polished core support, a polished AC condenser, and two chrome horns. Despite its large displacement, the big 502 fits well in this 210s clean engine compartment; and details such as completely finished Burnt Orange inner fenders, a chrome brake booster and master cylinder, billet hood hardware, a full set of bowtie bolts and a full set of chrome brackets, braided hoses and chrome show plates add the kind of tailored and finished look that both inspires stares and takes home trophies.

Now that you’re certain this ’55 210 isn’t just another run-of-the-mill, 350 powered resto-mod you’re probably anxious to know what’s underneath its body. Throwing all the big 502’s power to the pavement is a bulletproof 4-speed automatic transmission which is marked by crisp shifts and impressive low gear acceleration. Up front, a traditional independent suspension, which features an upfitted sway bar and leak-free power steering, provides modern car handling and easy turning. And out back, a virtually indestructible 10 bolt rear end hangs between familiar leaf springs, a second upfitted sway bar, Caltrac’s style traction bars, and fully functional air shocks. At the center of the car mandrel bent, true dual exhaust pipes send spent gases from an H-pipe crossover to awesome sounding Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers. At each front corner, a big disc brake sits behind a 15 inch American Racing Torq Thrust II wheel and a 205/70 Michelin Radial Plus tire. And at each back corner, a stout drum brake sits behind a 15 inch American Racing Torq Thrust II wheel and a 225/70 Michelin X-One tire. The car’s solid floors have exchanged their standard coat of GM satin black paint for a mild layer of undercoating which is durable, attractive and outstanding at controlling both noise and heat. And all its details are fully sorted too, with a fresh stainless gas tank supplying fresh stainless fuel lines, stainless bolts holding everything together and a chrome B&M transmission pan adding a little flash and style.

Climb inside this fully restored 210 and you’ll find a completely custom interior which features dramatic colors and an unbeatable combination of classic trim and modern convenience. Those big, overstuffed thrones, which began life in an Impala, now wear glove soft tan leather covers. Matching door panels were sculpted and custom stitched, decorated with billet aluminum handles and chrome power window switches, then neatly integrated into Burnt Orange door toppers. Overhead there’s a polished rearview mirror and a custom leather headliner. And at the bottom of the car, high quality tan carpet rides under color-keyed floor mats, attractive pedal covers and custom kick panels which hide great sounding modern speakers. In front of the driver, a Burnt Orange dash hangs pristine bowtie branded stainless, which is complete with both a digital clock and a digital gauge pod, above vents for the car’s ice cold air conditioning system. And an attractive aluminum steering wheel spins a thick black rim around a chrome and body matched tilt steering column that’s complete with a full set of billet stalks. There’s a powerful stereo system which has been artfully hidden away from view, revealing itself only through a satellite capable Kenwood controller that rides top-dead-center on the transmission tunnel. And behind the cockpit, a custom leather package tray rides above a fully finished trunk which features the same sculpted leather panels and plush tan carpet as the car’s interior. It simply doesn’t get much nicer than this!

So if you missed that last one, don’t hesitate. In fact, you shouldn’t even be reading this paragraph, because there’s probably another guy who’s already on the phone wiring us a deposit. Fully sorted and ready to cruise or show, if you arrive in this 210 there’s simply no question who will be taking home the big trophy. Available for less than the cost of construction, this car is the best of the best in every way. So if you find yourself falling in love all over again, it’s understandable. Just don’t wait too long to take this one home, because it just won’t last.
