Hot rodding is a timeless tradition that has provided us with many amazing vehicles which influence both style and technology. Some of the cars being built today would have never been imagined without early hot rodders unwavering vision and willingness to try something different. This 1932 Ford Hi-Boy is a ground-up build that combines the vision of original hot rodding with modern components that have been developed through years of tweaking and modification.

Completed by Lonestar Rod Shop in March of 2008, this Ford Hi-Boy gleamed and glistened its way to a first place finish at the 2009 Good Guys in Houston Texas. Its Show Me fiberglass body is finished in trailer-queen quality Cool Vanilla paint and features Tanner custom pin striping on its grille shell, trunk and Cool Vanilla dash. At the front of the car, custom boxed and tapered frame horns hold a custom fabricated spreader bar that is covered by the same leather used for its bench seat. Above that spreader bar, a stainless grille sits between two ’33 Ford commercial style headlights that include built in turn indicators. Behind the grille a Rootlieb hood that has been stretched by two inches sits above louvered side panels and runs to a chopped and tinted windshield. That windshield is surrounded by show quality chrome that perfectly matches curvaceous chrome door mounted rearview mirrors. The profile of the car presents a clean and simple look that is typical of classic fenderless hot rods. The louvers taper at an angle right behind the front wheels, the door handles have been shaved and just enough of the chrome suspension is visible to captivate your attention and draw you to the car. At the rear of the car, a black fabric top features a small glass window that is trimmed in stainless above a stainless tag bracket that incorporates a third brake light. Just below the trunk a body matched fuel tank includes a chrome cap and sits behind a polished spreader bar. Below the corners of the body, LED tail lights are trimmed in chrome and below the chassis, two stainless tips complement a barely visible body matched differential housing and rear chrome coil overs. At the front of the car, 15 inch polished American Racing Salt Flat Specials carry billet knock offs and wear 155/80 BF Goodrich T/A radials. At the back of the car, 16 inch polished American Racing Salt Flat Specials carry billet knock offs and wear 275/65 BF Goodrich T/A radials. Everything on this car is 100 percent show ready and in immaculate condition. The car has never seen a drop of rain and has logged only 2,300 sunny Texas miles since its 2008 completion date.

Under the one piece hood, ample power is supplied by a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that has been painted red to match the interior of the car. At the top of that engine, an air cleaner is topped by a studded wing nut and housed in a chrome enclosure. Under that air cleaner, an Edelbrock Performer 600 Endurashine carburetor is fueled by stainless lines and features a Lokar throttle linkage that is wrapped in braided metal. Under the carburetor, a chrome intake sits between finned aluminum valve covers that have been detailed with the same red paint that’s on the engine block and polished breathers. Below those valve covers, polished aluminum wire looms sit above ceramic coated Dynatech headers. At the back of the intake, a red topped GM HEI distributor feeds spark from a 12 volt Painless Wiring system (which includes a security disconnect) to loomed Taylor performance wires. In front of the engine a chrome Power Star alternator is connected to a chrome crank pulley by a fresh V belt. Keeping everything cool is a Walker radiator that is complete with an electric fan and chrome flex hoses. The engine compartment of this ’32 Ford is exceptionally clean with Cool Vanilla panels and stainless brace bars contrasting nicely against the red engine block and chrome engine accessories.

Underneath the car, a Pete & Jake’s custom chassis has been ‘C’ notched for additional clearance. Housed within that custom chassis is a brand new GM Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic transmission with a chrome front cover and finned aluminum pan and a rebuilt John’s Ford 9 inch axle. At the front of the car, chrome mono leaf springs have been detailed in red to match the engine block and feature a chrome front axle and suspension, and chrome custom fabricated headlight and shock mounts. At the back of the car, polished adjustable Viper alloy coil overs combine with chrome rear lower ladder bars to provide a modern ride and a classic hot rod stance. A power brake booster is mounted on the frame and sends fluid through braided lines to front power Wilwood disc brakes with cool finned dust shields and power rear drum brakes. True dual exhaust looks to be about 3 inches in diameter and runs from the coated headers to mufflers and then to stainless tips that exit below the fuel tank. The bottom of the car is completely detailed and includes small touches like a frame mounted finned transmission cooler, a Lokar emergency brake cable and transmission kickdown, stainless fuel lines and chassis hardware, a chrome oil pan, oil filter cover and starter shield, and a body matched driveshaft and rear end.

The Lonestar Rod Shop custom red interior in this Hi-Boy is a lot of fun while retaining the classic good looks of the car. The red ultraleather bench is accented by black seatbelts and matches red ultraleather door panels that are accented by black carpet kick panels. In front of the driver a Cool Vanilla dash is decorated with Tanner pin striping and houses VDO instruments in a Stewart-Warner dash panel. In front of the VDO instruments, a Lokar Nostalgia floor shifter looks fitting and mounts next to chrome trimmed foot pedals. On the floor of the car, black carpet is protected by black floor mats with red piping. Interfacing with the driver is a red and black Limeworks 40s style steering wheel that is bolted to a Limeworks 40s style steering column with a Limeworks billet turn signal stalk. Out back, the trunk features billet hinges and is fully upholstered to match interior.

Documents included with this ’32 Ford are a Lonestar Rod Shop specifications sheet, build receipts and a Lonestar Rod Shop owner’s manual.

In short, this award winning Hi-Boy has the best of everything, and is perfect for the ’32 Ford fan that wants a fully completed and show ready car. It has classic good looks, modern hot rod technology and a professional build that simply cannot be duplicated for the asking price. Call today!
