We’re certain the day will come when future enthusiasts refer to the early part of the 21st century as the golden years of horsepower. Gas was cheap, technology made high performance cars easy to build, and about the only thing that mattered was getting to the next stoplight faster than the guy beside you. From 300 horsepower, front-wheel-drive econoboxes to 605 horsepower, 4-door Autobahn assassins to 808 horsepower, 9-second muscle cars off the showroom floor, it truly was one of the best times to be a car enthusiast. And, fortunately, low-mileage muscle like this factory-fresh Camaro Super Sport allow a few lucky enthusiasts to hang onto those days just a little bit longer. Immaculately maintained and rarely driven, this fully documented coupe wraps a hot LS1 and stout Tremec 6-speed in slick red on black aesthetics. If you’re longing for modern muscle that has the showroom appeal of a new car without the inflated sticker shock, this sweet F4 is the bargain you’ve been waiting for!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Garaged and pampered since being one of the last vehicles to roll off GM’s Sainte Therese, Quebec assembly line, this awesome Camaro is a one-owner gem that’s seen only 6,384 miles of blacktop. Its life began at C. Harper Chevrolet in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, where it was discovered by a meticulous fan who had performed an exhaustive search for its exact combination of options. After papers were faxed and money was transferred, the car was shipped to North Carolina to begin residence in climate controlled storage. And over the next 15 years, this Chevy’s only outings would be to regional shows and local cruise nights in the hands of a loving owner – a steward who went so far as to scout and pre-plan travel routes to avoid potential road hazards and yard sprinklers. At the front of the car’s Bright Rally Red profile, one of the most aggressive faces Chevrolet ever produced hangs factory-fresh headlights above an ornate header emblem, HID fog lamps and a Flat Black grille that’s finished with silver “CAMARO” lettering. Behind that grille, a composite ram air hood centers a black inlay in front of a fresh greenhouse that’s capped by optional T-tops. Beneath that glass, sporty “SS” emblems provide excellent contrast to body-matched door moldings and color-keyed mirrors. And at the back of the car, an SS-exclusive spoiler frames tri-color taillights, a third “SS” emblem, more silver “CAMARO” lettering and a small GMMG emblem.

ENGINE

Under the SLP-supplied bonnet, a Gen III LS1 V8 combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat-top pistons to twist a solid 325 horsepower into 350 lb./ft. of Kansas-flat torque. At the top of the engine, trick SLP induction feeds a factory-spec throttle body, which is bolted to a lightweight, composite intake. High octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through AC Delco plug wires. Spent gases get whisked away by factory manifolds. Cooling comes courtesy of a factory radiator. And, aesthetically, the Cast Silver mill blends seamlessly with the car’s spotless, Bright Rally Red engine bay.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Look under this Chevy and spotless floors, clean stainless hardware and fresh factory equipment make it clear the car’s previous owner was absolutely meticulous about weather. Behind the engine, you’ll find a slick-shifting Borg Warner T56 6-speed, which spins an SLP-supplied torsen differential around sporty, 3.42 gears. Braking is provided by four discs, which have been upfitted with standard anti-lock assist. Exhaust floats through a chambered GMMG cat-back system that terminates at polished stainless tips. And at the corners, 10-spoke wheels spin original 275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1s. Unlike Camaros of the past, this F4 has the hardware to maximize all its power thanks to an SLP-tuned double A-arm front and 3-link rear suspension. And, with all those basics secured, GM’s official mediator for its performance madness, Acceleration Slip Regulation, was installed and activated.

INTERIOR

Between the doors, fresh bucket seats electronically adjust six ways for the driver while a leather-clad steering wheel sports convenient thumb controls for an awesome Monsoon sound system. The instrument panel is a familiar and legible GM layout that features a built-in Driver Information Center next to a large tachometer and sweeping speedometer. At the floor, an optional Hurst short-throw shifter surfs a small console between clean SLP mats. And naturally, all the luxuries you’d expect in a modern car are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, a power trunk and Remote Keyless Entry with GMs PASSkey theft deterrent system. It even still smells like a new GM product from the early 2000’s.
