If you've clicked on this ad, we probably don't need to sell you on the virtues of the first-generation Camaro. You already know they're attractive, comfortable, quick - you name it. With a great color combination, renowned drivetrain and a restoration good enough to receive accolades from the ISCA, this F-body is the kind of car you can enjoy driving and still be proud to show. The lines of the '69 Camaro are recognizable to almost any auto enthusiast. Take that classic shape, douse it in a strong color and you're on your way to a show-stopper. While very few of the 18 colors GM offered on the 1969 Camaro could qualify as “high impact” in the Mopar sense, GM code 79 Rally Green is definitely a contender. When applied to a remarkably straight body like this one, the results are impressive. The paintwork is smooth, even and most certainly shows better than anything technology allowed while this car was on the Los Angeles asembly line. Accented by twin white rally stripes, the car retains all the edge of the Z/28 package, but seems a little more spirited than others for its bright paintwork. The white vinyl top further separates this car from the pack and looks great next to stripes. Panel fitment is significantly better than anything the factory offered while the overall look remains stock.

At the front of the car, hidden headlights hang above a show-quality front bumper. Below, factory fresh marker lights are centered above a D80 front spoiler. Above the grille, a classic “Camaro by Chevrolet” emblem sits on the driver's side of the header panel in front of an optional ZL2 cowl induction hood with white inlayed “302” emblems. At the sides, front fender-mounted marker lights sit next to red and chrome “Z/28”. Further back, pristine chrome door handles ]\. At the back of the car, a correct optional D80 rear decklid spoiler carries correctly stenciled stripes to its bottom edge and lines up perfectly above showroom quality tail lights. Further down, a mirror-like chrome bumper wraps around the corners of the car to marker lights and features vertical bumper guards centered below another pristine red and chrome “Z/28” emblem.

Underneath the hood, a period-correct DZ 302 SCCA-spec V8 is planted in the subframe. Branded with a 1969-exclusive 3956618 casting number, a March 3rd, 1969 date code and a V0306DZ engine code, the engine carries plenty of authenticity for not being original to the car. Highly underrated at 290 horsepower and 290 lb./ft. of torque, this hot small block utilizes a forged steel crank, a solid lifter '097' camshaft, high performance moly rings, hardened pushrods and double hump heads with stiffer valve springs to turn 11:1 compression into approximately 376 horsepower. At the top of the engine, a satin black single snorkel air cleaner directs air into the original 780cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor which is bolted to the correct Winters aluminum intake. Finned aluminum Corvette valve covers offer a bit of style and hint at the 302's performance potential. The high-revving small block breathes through correct cast iron exhaust manifolds that connect to a factory-appearing exhaust, giving this Z/28 an authentic growl rarely heard among today's aftermarket systems. With correct chalk markings, new hood insulation and a well detailed block, this is one engine bay you can show with pride.

Peek underneath the car and you'll find a pristine undercarriage with satin black floor pans and fresh hardware. In the center, a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission makes finding gears easy while a sturdy 12-bolt differential packed with 3.73 gears puts the power to the pavement. Turns come courtesy of a track-tuned double A-arm front and leaf spring rear suspension aided by factory-installed power steering that makes quick work of twisty roads. Power front discs and rear drum brakes provide the stopping power for his awesome machine. At the corners, 15-inch Rallye wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich red-line tires complete the period-correct look.

Between the doors, a deluxe black houndstooth interior provides everything necessary without sacrificing good looks. The black bucket seats show well and provide just the right amount of support to make aggressive driving comfortable. Between them, a deluxe console makes room for the shifter and desirable console gauges. From the driver's seat, the square dash makes room for stock instrumentation. A rosewood wheel connects the driver to the car. If the 302's noises ever lose their entertainment value, there's a familiar cassette player that pulls its signal through a fender-mounted antenna. From the carpet to the deluxe door panels to the fresh headliner, absolutely no stone has been left unturned in this cabin. Behind the rear seats, a correct spackle finish covers the wheel wells, seat braces, and roughly half of the hinges, just like the factory applied it. A correct trunk mat and spare tire finish the look.

Included with this sale is a custom Covers4Cars car cover.

With its brilliant 302/four-speed combination, this Z/28 is a blast to drive and has no trouble turning heads when it sits still. With its show-winning past, you know quality won't be a concern either. If you're ready to do more than dream of a first-gen Camaro, act nowbefore someone else claims this Rally Green Z/28. The good ones never stick around for long.
