The automotive scene can be a fickle place. Trends come, go, fizzle and sometimes even cycle back under the guise of “retro”. While many builders strive to create cars that offer the flavor of the day, others use calculated observation to transform premier classics into timeless customs. This hot-rodded 210 features plenty of modern must-haves, like air conditioning, custom upholstery and chromed Boyd Coddington wheels. But items like an upgraded suspension, a massaged GM small block and a Tremec 5-speed transmission certainly underscore the fact that the car marches to its own beat. So, if you’re looking for a razor-sharp custom that’s ready to attract big crowds and big trophies, here it is!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Built to turns heads while conquering the road, this sweet Chevy is the beneficiary of a detailed restoration that’s as striking as it is clean. At the front of the car’s post body, a broad bumper traces a correct grille, clear parking lamps and modern, chrome-trimmed headlights. At the top of that grille, a “Chevrolet” branded hood leads the eye to a flowing greenhouse, which finds smoked glass behind polished frames and electric RainGear wipers. At the base of that glass, small mirrors reflect factory door handles, classy quarter scripts and ornate speed spears. And at the back of the car, a second broad bumper traces factory tail lamps and a familiar Chevrolet crest.

ENGINE

Check under this Chevy’s Speer Bullet Spoons and you’ll find 350 cubic inches of GM small block that spins an Isky hydraulic cam inside a .030 overbore to churn out stout 10 to 1 compression. At the top of the smooth-spinning mill, a coated Edelbrock carburetor hangs an electric choke between stainless fluid lines, a chrome air cleaner and a predictable Edelbrock intake. That intake feeds aluminum Edelbrock heads, which hide Isky hydraulic lifters and quality roller rockers beneath chrome valve covers. At the back of those heads, a hot MSD distributor sequences spark between an MSD Blaster 2 coil and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. At the front of those cables, polished pulleys spin a polished alternator and polished AC compressor above a polished water pump. Cooling comes courtesy of a beefy Be Cool radiator, which, along with a polished expansion tank, dressed hoses and dual electric puller fans, rides an upgraded core support. Exhaust makes haste through ceramic-coated shorty headers. And, aesthetically, the car’s glossy engine bay is super clean, all the way from its painted oil pan and coated fuel pump to its polished breather and trick bowtie spinner.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Combining a 1-piece California frame with tubular control arms and pocketed leaf springs, this 210 provides a ride that’s both comfortable and durable. At the center of that Gloss Black skeleton, a hydraulic throwout bearing kicks a Tremec 5-speed transmission, which funnels torque to a dressed 10-bolt axle that’s finished with Richmond 3.73 gears. Stops come courtesy of a polished booster, which motivates four red calipers to squeeze a familiar combination of drilled and vented rotors. At the center of the floor, spent gases float from the aforementioned headers in to 2.5-inch exhaust pipes and throaty Thrush mufflers. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on chromed Boyd Coddington blades, which spin 225/55R17 Kumho Ecstas in front of 255/45R18 Kumho Ecstas.

INTERIOR

Open this hardtop’s doors and you’ll find a custom ultraleather interior that presents a nice contrast to the car’s ‘no color’ facade. Top dead center, a brilliant dash suspends slick Classic Instruments telemetry between American Autowire wiring, direct-fit audio and knobs for Vintage Air climate control. Beneath that dash, a familiar Hurst shifter leads plush bench seats. In front of the driver, a tilting Ididit column spins a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel. And at the edges of the cockpit, traditional crank handles activate power front windows.

Owning a lights-out classic is cool. Owning a lights-out classic that’s been professionally customized is something few are lucky enough to experience. Don’t miss your chance to experience this incredible Chevy sedan!
