Speak to the people who have owned an older cruiser, and they'll attest to how much fun these cars are to drive. There's something about these pre-war era cars that are lost on the production cars today. Sure they might not have the most up to date suspension or a ton of power under the hood, but that's exactly what makes them unique and an absolute blast to drive. This '39 Ford Deluxe Coupe has been completely restored to factory specifications and is a prime example at how fun and classy these cars can be.

The beneficiary of a complete restoration that brought it to factory specifications, this '39 Ford Deluxe Coupe might be celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, but looks as good today as when it rolled off the showroom floor. If you love the way these older cars handle and want to cruise in style, then this is the '39 you have been looking for.

Today the signature look of the '39 Ford body sits covered in a brilliant shade of blue. Instead of radical sheet-metal surgery, the builders instead focused on getting the details perfected, which means high-quality metalwork, excellent gaps, and exact alignment of all the panels. This one fits together very, very well. At the front of the body the massive V-shaped chrome grille sits behind a body width chrome front bumper. In the 1930s, chrome and other brightwork were how automakers defined themselves and they lavishly dressed up their designs with a lot of shiny jewelry, and this 1939 Ford is no exception. Chrome trim runs down the side of the body, chrome mirrors stick out from the doors that have been equipped with chrome handles, and chrome wiper blades hang from the roof. At the back of the coupe, a long trunk bay houses a spare tire and has plenty of room for other luggage. A chrome rear bumper sits just above the single exhaust and is flanked on both sides by the small rear taillights. Needless to say, the coupe's body impresses regardless of where you look.

Powering the '39 coupe is a correct 24-stud flathead V8. Collectively referred to as the 221 motor, the Ford powerplant creates a modest 85 horsepower with a relatively tame 6.12:1 compression ratio. It was a durable, torque machine whose adaptability made it a favorite of many of racers. It has undoubtedly been rebuilt, and probably sports a few hot-rodding tricks inside if you can believe the cam cards that accompany the car. The block has been painted a shade somewhere between blue and green, and looks fantastic in the black engine bay. Giving the Ford a unique look is the front-mounted distributor that sends spark to the flathead cylinders. The radiator hoses look like they may be NOS pieces with original ink stampings on them, but with reproductions being as good as they are today, it's hard to be certain.

Underneath you'll find the original X-style frame remains intact and looks like it has barely any road time at all. The restoration team also used the factory style transverse leaf spring suspension at the front and rear, which ensures this coupe drives like the classic that it is. Bolted to the block is a period correct 3-speed manual that feeds power to a banjo style rear-end. Drum brakes are responsible for slowing the vehicle and give it more of that authentic feel when cruising down the road. In front of the drum brakes a set of factory style steel wheels have the Ford V8 logo in blue and have been wrapped in a gorgeous set of wide white wall tires.

Ford really got the interior right on this little coupe back in '39. The Deluxe Coupe's leather bench seat shows very little cracks and is an incredible place to log miles from. In front of the driver is a DeLuxe logo that sits within a three spoke steering wheel. Beyond the steering wheel, a unique two gauge provides information to the driver. The left gauge features fuel, temp, oil pressure, and voltage. While on the right, you have a 100mph speedo. Above the passengers is a taught headliner that finishes off the look of the pristine interior.

The sale of this '39 Ford Deluxe includes a reproduction service data book and a radio handbook.

The '39 Ford was a very classy vehicle. This completely restored Ford Deluxe Coupe is an amazing testament to how these cars were built to last. This '39 has flawlessly been restored to factory specifications and sits today capable of anchoring any collection. If you are ready to win local car show awards, or just want an incredible cruiser to take the wife out every now and again, then this is the Ford for you. Don't miss your chance to pick up this Ford Deluxe while you still can!
