Frame Up Restored Corvette Roadster 350 V8 4 Speed
If you're in the market for a solid third generation Corvette that you can enjoy on weekends and cruise to the local car shows, we have your car. One of only 4,629 convertibles built for the 1975 model year, this frame up restored Stingray roadster comes complete with its original numbers matching L48 350 and an optional factory hard top. Reasonably priced and ready to hit the road tomorrow, it's the perfect top down cruiser for taking your Sunday drives to a whole new level.
This Stingray's contoured fiberglass body is covered in a glossy coat of GM code 76 Mille Miglia Red that has been buffed to a bright shine and looks great. Given their fiberglass construction, curved bodies and age, vintage Corvettes are difficult restorations and it's relatively simple to tell if the cars have seen any major repairs. Judging by how well this Stingrays straight body panels align it likely hasn't seen anything more than sanding and paint work, and it presents as well today in its original paint scheme as when it rolled out of the factory 36 years ago.
At the front of the car, an injection molded urethane bumper cover displays no cracking or warping and incorporates black bumper guards at the inside edges of plastic grilles with clear marker lights. Below the bumper, a subtle black chine spoiler flows with the tumblehome of the car's front fenders and above the bumper, perfectly functioning vacuum actuated headlights sit at either side of a chrome trimmed and red inlayed Corvette emblem. At the sides of the car, the exaggerated front fenders rise above the cars peaked locking hood and incorporate chrome “Stingray” scripts above open air extractors and square silver trimmed marker lights. On the cars doors, flush stainless door handles complement correct chrome rear view mirrors which sit at the sides of well-maintained stainless trim and a like-new glass windshield. Behind the windshield a GM code L black canvas top that fits tight and carries a plastic rear window can be stowed in favor of the cars optional body matched 'sugar scoop' hard top that attaches via stainless trimmed anchors on the rear decklid. Behind the top a second set of exaggerated fenders hold two more silver trimmed marker lights and sit at the sides of a second great looking C3 Corvette emblem on the cars fuel door and a stainless steel driver's side antenna. At the back of the car, an angled urethane rear valence gives the car a balanced looks and incorporates black bumper guards below traditional deep set and chrome trimmed Corvette tail lights. At the center of the rear valence great looking chrome “Corvette” lettering perfectly complements polished stainless exhaust turn downs that hang just below the black bumper guards.
Tilt this cars red hood forward and you'll find its original L48 350 that carries a correct 3970010 casting number, a matching 15S420271 partial VIN and a correct L48 4-speed specific CHA suffix stamp. The first thing you'll notice is a chrome topped open element air cleaner which is housed in a satin black base and receives air from both the engine bay and a subtle cowl induction hood scoop. Under that air cleaner, a correct Rochester Quadrajet carburetor sends fuel from stainless fuel lines into a correct intake that is color matched to the cars Chevrolet Orange engine block. On either side of that intake, L82 style polished and finned aluminum valve covers look great and feature a C3 Corvette crossed flag emblem and a chrome oil cap. Below the valve covers, correct factory exhaust manifolds send gases into a true dual exhaust system that is devoid of the cars original emissions equipment. Behind the carburetor, you'll find a new for 1975 HEI distributor that is covered in chrome, and in front of the engine, a correct Frigidaire AC compressor sits behind a correct radiator and a correct fan. On the right side of the fire wall, a correct Harrison air conditioning system blows cool air into the cockpit, and on the left side of the fire wall a like-new master cylinder supplies the cars power brakes. Reliable and appealing, this Corvettes engine bay presents well and its small block Chevy engine takes off smoothly and has plenty of power.
Underneath the car you'll find a solid un-restored chassis below clean floor pans that are free of flaw camouflaging undercoating. Behind the stout 350, a reliable 4-speed manual transmission sends power to the ground through what appears to be the cars original highway friendly 3.08 rear end. Holding that drivetrain in is the cars original double A-arm front and independent rear suspension which includes front end components that present as newer than the rest of the suspension, appearing to have been replaced at some point, and a traditional transversely mounted rear leaf spring. As Chevrolets top of the line offering, this 1975 Corvette came factory equipped with power steering and four wheel disc power brakes, and exhaust is handled by an aftermarket true dual system which includes a correct factory replacement muffler. At the corners of the car, mirror-like 15 inch chrome rally wheels wear low profile stamped Chevrolet center caps and fresh 255/60 BF Goodrich T/A radials. For an untouched 36 year old car, the frame and floors on this Corvette are surprisingly clean and look exactly how you would expect a reliable street car to look.
Inside the car, a correct 192 black bucket leather interior is focused around great looking seats that have just enough break-in time to be exceptionally comfortable. Below the seats, like-new black carpet runs from under the dash to the cargo hold and is protected by cool carpeted floor mats with colorful C3 Corvette crossed flag logos. In front of the seats, the black dash wears a padded top that hasn't spent much time at all in the hot summer sun and a correct passenger's side map pocket. In front of the driver a large round speedometer and a new for 1975 electric tachometer sit behind a correct satin silver spoked and vinyl rimmed steering wheel that is attached to a tilt column and features a C3 Corvette emblem on its horn button. At the center of the dash, gauges for the cars vitals sit above a correct AM/FM push button radio and rotating dials for the cars climate control system. Along with the cars chrome shifter, those climate control dials are housed in a nice looking wood applique that sits in front of console mounted chrome switches for the cars power windows. At the sides of the seats, great looking door panels feature a combination of stainless trim and bright wood applique around chrome door handles with small fully detailed C3 Corvette emblems and correct twist style door locks.
Documentation for this car included a copy of the previous owner's title and some maintenance receipts.
This 1975 Corvette Stingray offers a ton of style and performance for very reasonable money. It's a highly desirable convertible that features a good looking classic red on black Corvette color combination, its original engine and the choice of two tops. If you're in the market for a reliable frame up restored roadster that will provide endless fun on the highway and get you celebrity attention in the parking lot, this is your car. Call today!
