The 1958 Corvette, also known as the first generation C1 Corvette, is a two-seat sports car produced by Chevrolet. It was part of the first generation of the iconic Corvette lineup and was produced from 1953 to 1962. The 1958 model year marked the fifth year of production for the C1 Corvette.
This 1958 Corvette has a distinctive design, featuring quad headlights and chrome accents on the front grille. The rear design included dual chrome trunk lid accents which gave the car a unique and recognizable appearance. Add to this the red with white coves and the car is recognizable from any standpoint.
This Vette has the 283 cubic inch V8 with dual quad carbs along with dual exhaust. All this is backed up with a 4-speed transmission and solid axle rear end. Ride is by way of Firestone bias-ply tires, coil springs up front and leaf springs in the rear.
The interior features a bucket seat layout with a driver-focused dashboard. Tunes are by way of an AM radio. The white convertible top is manual and 1958 only came in this configuration.
The 58 Vette was limited production with relatively low production numbers of 9,168 units built during that model year. Today, these early Corvettes are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
