Mixing the best elements of Mako style with generations of performance prowess, this stylish C3 is one super cool resto-mod. What's better: you can own and drive this exclusive head turner for a fraction of the money and time it takes to complete a ground-up build. Are you an enthusiastic buyer who's tired of the 'garage furniture' culture that seems to pervade the classic car hobby? This sweet Chevy is one of the coolest hot rods your money can buy!
ABSOLUTE AND AWESOME
The beneficiary of a body-off, nut-and-bolt mechanical restoration that was completed by Munk's Restoration of Sandusky, Ohio, this sweet C3 wears brilliant Chevrolet Torch Red two-stage that was sourced from the pigment wizards at Axalta. That shine, sprayed by Sandusky, Ohio's Andy's Restoration, dressed a sinuous body that was fully stripped and carefully massaged. And after two solid years in the shop, this classic stormed 2022 as a polished and sorted head turner that's literally defines the term high quality resto-mod!
The car's razor-sharp aesthetics lead with aggressive, stainless-trimmed grilles, which center small parking lamps between a thin bumper and a subtle chin spoiler. Above that brow, a cross-flag-branded header draws the eye to a bold, L88-style hood that's flushed with a requisite vacuum operated cowl. That cowl reflects an array of clean glass that's framed in straight stainless and capped by fresh Coffman Corvette canvas. At the sides of that glass, flush door poppers and classy “Stingray” scripts perfectly complement a polished mirror, silver fender louvers and polished side-pipes. And at the back of the car, a “CORVETTE” branded valance hangs a chrome tag frame and two-tone tail lamps between thin bumpers and a cross-flag fuel filler.
SMALL BLOCK GLORY
Tilt this Vette's long hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of divine GM small block that's officially known as the SP350/385. Purchased directly from Chevrolet Performance, that trusty mill twists respectable 9.6 to 1 compression into 385 horsepower and 405 lb./ft. of tire twisting torque! At the top of the block, a polished filter slinks breeze into a coated Holley 4-barrel, which feeds a requisite Chevrolet Performance intake. Air meets spark in GM's storied Fast Burn cylinder heads, which ride under polished and Chevrolet-branded valve covers. The fires get lit by a predictable HEI distributor, with shoots spark through loomed Chevrolet plug wires. A forged crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons work well with a predictable hydraulic cam. Speaking of breathing, that smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases through polished Doug's headers. There's a massive DeWitts radiator that's slid in front of dual SPAL puller fans. Lucid serpentine components spin a modern alternator opposite a modern AC compressor. And, as you likely deduced from our high-resolution photos, the cast iron mill rolls in a clean, Satin Black frame that's finished with niceties like a braided lines, a polished breather and a familiar AC expansion tank.
STACKED WITH UPGRADES
Bottom-side, a sturdy factory chassis proves the perfect foundation for the car's inspired resurrection. That Satin Black skeleton rides a thoughtfully upgraded suspension, which tilts a quartet of adjustable Van Steel coil-overs behind beefy Global West control arms. Behind the 350, a trusty BorgWarner Super T10 4-speed spins power to a posi-traction differential and fun, 3.55 gears. Lucid power steering works well with bright red calipers, which clamp a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. And torque meets the pavement through American Racing Classic Torq Thrust IIs, which whip polished spinners inside 225/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 G2s and 255/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 G2s.
TWO WORDS: AL KNOCH
Slip in to this Stingray's comfy Saddle interior and settle on attractive leather buckets that are dressed in tight, weather-free hides. A familiar dash founds an array of fully rebuilt telemetry above controls for Vintage Air conditioning and MP3-capable direct-fit audio. At the base of that dash, a tapered console plants a polished factory shifter in front of switches for swift power windows. Carpeted floor mats split the difference between stainless-trimmed foot pedals and crack-free door panels. And a tilting column spins a sporty, satin-spoke steering wheel.
A nicely finished classic that was built to be driven AND seen, this clean Chevy mixes killer personality with awesome curb appeal. Looking for a super cool cruiser that's guaranteed to draw a crowd wherever you go? Your search is officially over!
