MCA, AACA & Concours Winning A-code Ford Mustang GT Fastback 289 V8 4-speed A/C
Here at RK Motors we have a tradition of showcasing the best collector cars on the planet. The way we see it, our job is to facilitate transactions that make car enthusiasts' dreams come true! Meticulously restored, featuring an athletic 289/4-speed drivetrain and boasting ELEVEN Mustang Club of America National Gold awards, this extraordinary fastback is an excellent example of the original American pony car. And if you're a discerning enthusiast who demands the very best in high caliber, investment grade metal, it's the classic you've been patiently waiting for!
YELLOW IS THE NEW GOLD
The beneficiary of a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration that was completed to exceptional detail, this Ford's solid body is primed to a smooth canvas under a correct and glossy coat of Springtime Yellow two-stage. Naturally, that careful rebirth was completed to a 100% factory-correct appearance, with its restorer choosing to refurbish original components everywhere possible. And since making its grand debut, this classic has followed ELEVEN Mustang Club of America National Gold Awards with three Antique Automobile Club of America national awards and Best in Class at the 2022 Sandhills Motoring Festival Concours d'Elegance.
It's obvious that Ford has always sweated the details on the Mustang, and this MCA Blue Medallion pony honors some of Dearborn's best work in the best way possible! At the front of the car, traditional halogen headlights anchor a 'bomber sight' grille, complete with correct GT driving lamps, between a sinuous bumper, a “F O R D” branded hood and bullet-style parking lamps. Behind that hood, matte wipers clear factory-tint glass that's caged in straight stainless frames, bright drip rails and a classy mirror. At the sides of that glass, a traditionally sculpted profile lays the groundwork for simple handles, ornate louvers and world famous Mustang badging that's complemented by correct GT rocker stripes. And at the back of that profile, a second sinuous bumper reflects fresh taillights, a detailed GT fuel filler and a requisite GT valance that's fashioned around polished exhaust tips.
ABSOLUTE A-CODE
Pop the hood and you'll find 289 cubic inches of iconic Ford power that, given the A in this Mustang's VIN, is a correct application of the mill that was so fiery Carroll Shelby used it as the foundation for his legendary GT350! And, according to photos included with our sale, this particular 289 was fully rebuilt during this coupe's detailed restoration. At the top of the engine, a polished and decaled air cleaner floats breeze through an original, fully rebuilt Autolite 4-barrel. That carb stokes a factory intake, which feeds date-correct heads that are dressed in stylish Cobra valve covers. A reliable points distributor shoots fire through date-coded Radio Resistance plug wires. Date-coded belts spin and Autolite-branded alternator under dealer-installed air conditioning. Cooling is provided by an old school FoMoCo radiator, which fills date-coded FoMoCo hoses that are threaded through requisite tower clamps. The spotless motor rolls in a completely restored engine bay that's been finished in traditional Satin Black paint. And niceties like correct tags, correct decals, a vintage Autolite battery topper and a correct FoMoCo washer bag are a perfect complement to restored original dress-up components.
FACTORY-CORRECT
What would an excellent restoration be without a great foundation? Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find solid floors that, decked in clean Red Oxide Primer, are highlighted by a roster of carefully restored hardware. Behind the hot 289, a correct BorgWarner T10 4-speed, fully rebuilt at the time of the car's restoration, turns a tough Ford 8-inch axle. A requisite Special Handling Package Suspension has been meticulously rebuilt as well, all the way down to full disassembly of each leaf spring pack. Disc and drum brakes provide firm, fade-free stops thanks to fully rebuilt calipers and reconditioned drums. Since this Ford's owner officially retired it from the show scene, he replaced the car's factory-style exhaust with three-inch stainless pipes that center an X-shaped crossover in front of rowdy Black Widow mufflers. Power meets the pavement through chromed Styled Steel Wheels that spin 6.95-14 U.S. Royal redlines around red center caps. And if you'd rather cruise than show, our sale includes a second set of chromed Styled Steel Wheels that wear BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial redlines.
AS IT WAS
Open the door to this awesome Mustang and you'll find a highly exclusive, correctly restored Pony Interior that provides an exceptionally attractive spot to cruise. Factory buckets wear ornate covers in front of a familiar Fold Down Bench. A dressed dash hangs rebuilt gauges and simple AM audio above controls for the aforementioned AC and highly desirable Rally-Pac accessory telemetry. Stainless-trimmed side panels frame fade-free carpet, which frames a factory console that frames a factory shifter. And the driver carves curves through a deluxe steering wheel.
Few classics have the kind of prestige and presence of a first-generation Mustang. And if previous trends are any indication, these cars will continue to gain value as they become more exclusive and collectible. This investment grade GT is a fully sorted, national award winning show queen that drives and sounds every bit as good as it looks. If you're a dedicated purist who desires only the best, here's a chance to own the ultimate pony car!
