Correctly Restored Studebaker Golden Hawk McCulloch Supercharged V8 Automatic
When you think the words “different” and “cool”, what comes to mind? “Cool” is easy for many folks because there aren't many things cooler than traditional '50s Americana. “Different”? Well, that's a little more difficult… Unless you pick up a classy and elegant cruiser like this incredible Studebaker Golden Hawk! Mixing storied supercharged power with some of the best lines ever penned by legendary designer Raymond Loewy, this exclusive classic is different, cool and undeniably collectible!
A fitting follow-up to its Speedster brand halo, Studebaker's “Family Sports Car” was a line-topping performance offering that fit right in with muscle car influencers like Bel Air fuelies, first-year Bonnevilles and Chrysler's epic 300. And, like those Bonnevilles, Bel Airs and Chrysler letter cars, the Golden Hawk was essentially a hot rodded version of a familiar commuter. Based on a two-inch shortened profile of the marque's Commander Starliner hardtop, the Golden Hawk donned ornate fins, a reworked trunk, a beefier hood and a reshaped F-86 Sabre-inspired grille. That more aggressive bonnet hid a supercharged Sweepstakes V8 that's exclusive to two years of Golden Hawk production. And this first-year supercharged Golden Hawk would join the ranks as the best performing Studebaker produced until the 1963 Avanti launched as the world's fastest production car.
